Sports dominates Christa's life. She loves volleyball and has also played basketball, soccer, and has even played tackle football—on the boy's team. She wants to be a professional athlete but may also consider a career as a lawyer because she likes to debate.
Christa was born in Austin, Texas to Bruce, a former football player at the University of Texas, and Janel Scholtz. She has one brother, Jarett.
Christa was one of fourteen contestants that made it through the Right to Stay. In the partner selection, she was paired up with Scooter, and she admitted that they couldn't work well together because she thought Scooter saw himself as a "one-man team".

After graduating from Westlake High School in 2008, Christa was also recruited by the University of Virginia, Louisiana State University, Northwestern University and the University of Kansas, but she chose Loyola Marymount University because of the athletic and academic support system, the players and coaching staff, and the location. She is also a psychology major.
