Calley Rachel Payne is a former contestant on Endurance 2. She competed alongside her partner, Shep Allen, as the Yellow Team. Sweet on the outside, this "southern belle" becomes very competitive when the game is worth winning.

About[]

Calley was born and raised in Elberton, Georgia to Lynne Beeson and James Payne. She has six siblings.

Endurance[]

Calley was one of the 14 contestants that made it through the Right to Stay. In the partner selection, because she didn't catch a ball, she was partnered with Shep Allen as the Yellow Team, which she was excited about. When Max and Jenna returned and became the Brown Team, Calley was excited, and one of the few people who supported their return. She instantly befriended Jenna, and was close friends with Keetin.

Yellow developed an early lead in Tower of Power, but couldn't win the mission. In Fireball, Calley was shown to launch the balls at Shep. When Christa caught the second Blue ball, she told her to eliminate Purple, but Scooter told her to eliminate Yellow, which visibly upset Calley. When discussing about the Samadhi, Annie feared about giving the Samadhi to Brown because if she did, then Calley would make sure that they would be targeted in retaliation. As a result, Annie talked to Shep, who wanted to talk to her because she didn't make much sense in what she said. However, Yellow was spared from the Samadhi.

The next episode, Yellow got a ball into their basket, but struggled with the second one, ultimately losing to Green. They were also spared from the Temple of Fate.

In Tide Pull, Calley was shown rowing the kayak, which didn't work out because Yellow Team, despite the four other teams pulling at Christa's, was the first team eliminated from the game. After the mission, Calley didn't understand why Blue wanted them gone, because they were weaker than the other teams. In the background, Annie was talking to Shep, and stated she disliked Calley. On the other hand, Calley wanted the Purple Team eliminated, ideally the next day, and talked to Shep about it, but he insisted he will get more information soon. At the Cove, Calley was shown crying, and said that some people were mean because they had low self-esteem, and they were bullying her. Note that the camera focused on Annie as of this time, implying a conflict between them. In On the Ropes, she tried to give directions to Shep who was blindfolded. Yellow trailed the others and Brown won. Calley and Keetin were then seen discussing with Jenna on who to send to temple. Calley agreed with Keetin's suggestion of sending Blue and Purple as it would guarantee that one of the threats to their alliance would be eliminated. Calley insisted that Annie was getting on the nerves of the girls and was thus trying to influence the guys in order to stay. Calley was not happy when Jenna said that Max might prevent Purple from going, asking when did Max start liking Annie to which Keetin sarcastically said it was because she was cool. Brown though did end up following Calley and Keetin's suggestion of sending Blue and Purple to temple. Before Purple left, Calley confronted Annie in front of the others, asking why she hated her. Calley insisted Annie hated her on the first day and that Annie talked about her behind her back. Keetin and Jenna sided with Calley, comforting her afterwards. This in turn causes Annie to state in a confessional that she would target Yellow if she came back to break up the alliance. To Calley's disappointment, Purple survived the trip to temple.

After Purple received Blue's pieces, she expressed disappointment with Purple having such a big lead and believed Scooter did it to spite the other teams. She did however claim that she and Annie have resolved their differences. In Face to Face, Yellow outlasted Green who fell almost immediately after the mission started. However, she struggled and despite Shep's encourage meant, she let go, placing Yellow 4th. Purple ended up winning the mission which concerned Calley as she suspected one team in the alliance would get the samadhi and if Purple won the next day, two alliance members would likely be sent up. Calley also admitted she could tell Shep was frustrated at her for her poor performances in challenges costing her team some wins but did not know what to do at that point. Their poor performances was also commented at the rock when Max was asked about his alliance/"friendship" where he noted Yellow had not won anything and were still in the game due to their friendships with Brown and Green to which Calley responded by rolling her eyes. Yellow was spared the samadhi but Brown got it instead. Calley felt that her team needed to win the temple mission or else she would be gone. In Cherry Picker, the teams started out neck and neck but Yellow managed to be the first team to get their second ball in. They were close to getting their third but it fell. Purple had made a comeback by this point and seconds later got their third ball in, winning the mission much to Calley's disappointed due to how close she was to what would have been their team's first win. She suspected Brown would be sent as they sent Purple before and she believed Yellow were going to join them as they were never close which was proven correct. Calley did note though perhaps Green should have been sent instead of Yellow as Green was the stronger of the two. Calley claiming she was not worried but she really wanted to come back. At the temple, Yellow won the first round while Brown won the second. In the final round, Brown won, visibly upsetting Calley though Shep was trying to comfort her as they left.

Portrayal & Relationships[]

Calley was depicted as a contestant not ready to compete in the game. She was very naive, but enjoyed every moment of the show. In challenges, she was shown as physically weak, as shown in Tide Pull and Face to Face. She did perform well, in teamwork based missions like Tower of Power, Rollerball and Cherry Picker but setbacks kept causing other teams to win just as they were close to winning something. She also was very emotional.

Calley was close to Jenna of the Brown Team and Keetin of the Green Team. She extremely disliked Annie, and even claimed that she had low self-esteem and Annie picked on her. On the other end, Annie believed Calley was very immature, and wanted the Yellow Team gone. This argument climaxed in On the Ropes, but tamed down the next episode. However, it revived in Cherry Picker, where Purple sent Yellow to Temple as a result of their ongoing rivalry.
